Stair Treads in Venice: Matching Wellen Park Staircases

Stair treads in Venice are almost entirely a Wellen Park story, since most of the rest of the city's housing stock doesn't have a staircase to begin with.

Stair Treads in Venice — short answer

Stair treads in Venice cluster almost entirely in Wellen Park's two-story plans, Renaissance and Grand Palm chief among them, where a builder's main-floor product needs matching treads and risers. Venice Island's 1920s cottages and Bay Indies' manufactured homes are mostly single level, so stair work there is rare. Typical 2026 installed ranges run $25-$220 per tread depending on material.

Most of the houses that need stair treads in Venice are in Wellen Park, not on Venice Island. Two-story plans are common in Renaissance and Grand Palm, and a fair number show up in Gran Paradiso and IslandWalk as well, and the usual trigger for a stair-tread call is the same one that drives a vinyl plank or hardwood job downstairs: an owner replaces the main floor and needs the stairs to match rather than clash with whatever the builder installed. A carpeted staircase next to a new LVP or engineered hardwood floor reads unfinished in a way most owners notice within the first week of living with it.

Edgewood and the rest of Venice Island run the other direction. The 1920s and 1930s wood-framed cottages there are almost entirely single-story construction, built low and close to the raised subfloor rather than stacked, so a genuine stair-tread job on the island is unusual. When we do get one, it's typically a small interior stair, a half-level into an addition or a converted attic space, rather than a full staircase. Bay Indies is a firmer no: it's a single-level, 55-and-over manufactured-home community near Curry Creek, and manufactured homes aren't built with interior stairs, so stair-tread work simply doesn't come up there.

For the Wellen Park jobs that do happen, the material call usually follows whatever's going in downstairs. A 14-tread staircase in a two-story Grand Palm home getting mid-range SPC vinyl plank on the main floor would typically get matching SPC-wrapped treads rather than solid hardwood, both for the visual match and because vinyl treads hold up better to the sand and pool-deck grit that tracks through a Wellen Park household. Where the main floor is solid or engineered hardwood instead, we match the tread species and stain rather than mixing materials on a single run of stairs.

See the Venice area page for which neighborhoods run mostly single-story versus two-story, or read whether vinyl plank flooring works on stairs before matching your material to the treads.

What stair treads costs in Venice

A 14-tread staircase in a two-story Grand Palm home, matched to mid-range SPC vinyl plank downstairs, runs $65-$105 per tread installed, or $910-$1,470 for the full run in 2026. Adding 14 painted risers at $25-$65 each brings the total to $1,260-$2,380.

The same staircase in solid hardwood treads ($130-$220 each) instead runs $1,820-$3,080, or $1,540-$2,520 in engineered treads ($110-$180 each), before risers. Laminate treads, the least common choice on a Wellen Park staircase but occasionally requested for a secondary stairwell, price lowest at $55-$85 per tread. Every material is broken down side by side in the stair treads cost guide, and the flooring cost calculator works for a quick same-day estimate on your own tread count.

Stair Treads questions from Venice homeowners

Do Wellen Park two-story homes need custom stair treads?

Usually yes, when the main floor gets replaced. Renaissance and Grand Palm staircases look unfinished next to a new vinyl plank or hardwood floor if the treads stay carpeted, so most owners match the tread material to whatever went in downstairs.

Do Venice Island cottages have staircases?

Rarely. Edgewood's 1920s and 1930s wood-framed cottages are almost entirely single-story, so stair-tread work on the island is limited to the occasional small interior stair or converted attic space rather than a full staircase.

Can Bay Indies homes get stair treads installed?

No, and we'd tell you that upfront rather than quote it. Bay Indies is a single-level, 55-and-over manufactured-home community, and manufactured homes aren't built with interior stairs.
